Failed to extract file SIGNATURE_..SMF in path /usr/sap/trans/tmp/…SAR. See the application log

Recently I have come across one issue while implementing a SAP Note. I was getting error as below

“Failed to extract file SIGNATURE_..SMF in path /usr/sap/trans/tmp/…SAR. See the application log “

I wasn’t getting this error for all the notes in the system. We were getting this for few specific notes.

Resolution:

  1. We noticed the above SMF file in the error was already available in /usr/sap/trans/tmp/.
  2. You should also check the permission of tmp folder and if SIDadm user is able to create the file there or not
